"My music roots are deep. Growing up in a musical family, harmonizing with my sisters, parents, cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents at large family gatherings are my fondest memories and built my musical foundation. Singing together fuels the heart and bonds people together in profound ways. There is an honesty and vulnerability about choral singing that helps people 'get real' with each other. Leading people in these shared choral experiences is one of my greatest joys. Having sung in or conducted many choirs in church, high school, university, schools, and community, I have a diverse range of choral experience. This, combined with an MA in music education, a diploma in vocal performance, and a lot of stage experience singing and playing in blue grass, folk, and jazz bands, has developed a fun, free, creative, yet cultured and experienced approach to choral conducting. Using the traditional choral canon as a base, my musical choices, arrangements, and interpretations are rich in texture and harmony, and are sometimes unconventional and very expressive. I am so happy to be conducting the Q City Singers! May we have a beautiful year of unity, harmony, self-expression, laughter, confidence, and much joy!"
